On March 4 and 5 the CKCOJ sponsored tests for AKC Canine Good Citizens and for therapy dog certification through Therapy Dogs International (TDI).   Jan Miller was the evaluator for both the AKC canine good citizen test and the TDI therapy dog test.

Our weekend of CGC and Therapy Dog testing was a big success!

Congratulations to those who passed, and to those who did not this time - don't give up! As some of us will attest, it just takes time!

Sue McGregor organized the tests and co-taught, together with Susan Hoffman, the preparation classes for canine good citizen. The tests were held with the assistance of a large number of volunteers and the Gastineau Humane Society. Our thanks go to all who participated in the tests and to those whose efforts made the tests possible.

The CKCOJ held its annual agility demonstration at Sandy Beach/Savikko Park as part of the Douglas Fourth of July celebration.

The demonstration was organized as an agility relay race. Each team consisted of a less experienced dog and a veteran agility dog. The less experienced dog did a short course of jumps, tunnels, and a chute. The experienced dog did a course of jumps, dog walk, tire, table, and teeter. The times of both dogs was combined to determine the total time for each team.

The September, 2006 UKC Obedience Trial was a successful affair! One trial was held each day on Saturday and Sunday (September 2 and 3, 2006) at the Glacier Valley School Covered Playground in the Mendenhall Valley.

We were very fortunate to have excellent weather both days. I would like to thank our Judge, Tami Worley and the Whitehorse group for bringing us the superb weather. It turned out to be an absolutely lovely weekend.
